The SouthEastern Connecticut Regional Youth Theater was organized in January 2002, originally at The Brenda Kerr Theater (BKT).
The BKT reorganized in 2006 to become The SECRYT.

The SouthEastern Connecticut Regional Youth Theater Mission Statement:
In recognizing that participating in and/or contributing towards the various aspects of the production of live theater can be an exhilarating and rewarding experience, inspire confidence, promote teamwork, bring diverse groups of people together for a common goal and facilitate the expression of one’s self, SouthEastern Connecticut Regional Youth Theater (SECRYT) shall provide children, youth and young adults throughout Eastern & Southeastern Connecticut with an environment and opportunities in which they can learn, practice and apply the performing, administrative, operational, technical and managerial disciplines of the dramatic arts of live theater. The SECRYT shall invite families, visitors, residents and members of the private, public and political sectors in the regions to work together to promote, enhance, encourage, support and celebrate the accomplishments of the children, youth and young adults who participate in all aspects of its theater programs. 
Tuition Fees, Field Trip Fees and Performance Ticket Purchases: Please note our sales & refund policy: 1) all performance ticket sales are final. Refunds are not granted for the sale of tickets for performances nor are exchanges for future performances allowed; 2) a refund of 50% of a tuition payment made will be paid to a student if he/she withdraws from a session for which they have registered/paid for when the withdrawal occurs anytime prior to the calendar day on which the session is scheduled to begin; 3) tuition payments are non-refundable any time on or after the calendar date on which the session is to begin; 4) field trip payments are non-refundable nor are exchanges for future field trips allowed;  5) should the SECRYT cancel a session, field trip or remove a registered student from a session or field trip roster, the SECRYT shall refund 100% of all payments accordingly. The SECRYT charges $25.00 for returned checks. (V3-081406)

Summary
Theater and all of its disciplines should be available to all children of all ages all skills levels.  We passionately believe The SECRYT fills a gap in our region by being a theater that is totally committed to the development of these skills in children, youth and young adults – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year.
